Board of Commissioners of Trust Funds
Minutes of the May 8, 2008 Meeting

Present:  Mayor Driscoll, Robert Lutts, Raymond Vaillancourt and
              Thaddeus Buczko

The Mayor called the meeting to order at 5:30 P.M.

The Board received a confirmation letter from the City Council reappointing Robert Lutts to serve as a member on the Board for a twelve-year term to expire April 1, 2020.

The Annual Read/Smith/Buffum picnic and Read Science Fair will be held at Salem Willows on Saturday, June 21, 2008, rain or shine from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.  Participating vendors have been notified and tickets will be distributed to Salem school children in grades K-5.

Raymond Vaillancourt made a motion to approve the minutes of the April 10, 2008 meeting.  The motion was seconded by Robert Lutts and voted unanimously.

A letter was received from Roland Pinault with $300 in checks to be deposited in the Roland Pineault SHS Class of 41’ Scholarship Fund.  The checks will be forwarded to the Eastern Bank for deposit and fund update.

The Andrews, Beston/ McDonough and the Roland Pinault SHS Class of 41’ scholarship fund awards were sent to Salem High School for presentation at their awards dinner.
(Beston/McDonough -  $3,958.00, Andrews - $650.00, Class of 41’ -  $2,000.00)

Quarterly interest earned on the Perpetual Care fund was forwarded to the Department of Open Space, Account 83021-482540.  ($10,367.33)

The Board approved a salary of $400/mo. for the clerk’s position. (Administration Fund)

The Salem Council on Aging submitted a request for assistance on behalf of a Salem resident with COPD.   After review, Raymond Vaillancourt made a motion to approved $261.00 from the Endicott fund.  The motion was seconded by Thaddeus Buczko and voted unanimously.

Large Grant proposals will be presented and reviewed at the June 12th and July 10th meetings.  Invitations will also be sent to Women’s Friend and HAWC.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:15 P.M.
